Little Tokyo, Again!

I love coming here because of the many cool restaurants, coffee shops, bookstores and for the stationery stores. Little Tokyo Mall, located at the heart of Little Tokyo is on 1st St, has a bunch of small shops, a bit pricey but there’s another reason I like coming here, it is as clean as Downtown Los Angeles gets. There are also a lot of great food spots in and around the area such as sushi, bento, bakery, ramen, etc. Pretty much any Japanese foods. And right at the corner of Astronaut E Onizuka and 2nd Streets, is another plaza that is full of Japanese shops, and one of my favorite shops here is Kinokuniya, a book/stationery store. I’ve come here to check Frixion pens, Japanese ballpoint pens, and really cute notebooks, and whether they already have the 2018 Hobonichi planners/journals, but seems like they don’t carry it anymore. Anyway, I enjoyed browsing through their shelves, as always, because they really have exceptional products. We had  lunch at Orochon Ramen after a little shopping at Kinokuniya. Ordered two …

How I Use My Black Dokibook

While I mostly enjoy using my Traveler’s Notebooks and love the thought that there is so much that I can do on it, I do feel like I sometimes need a quick change of journals/planners, just like how you want to step outside for a quick change of scenery. For that reason last year, I bought a cheaper version of those ring bound planners from the makers of Dokibook which is based in Hongkong. I decided to get the black textured cover with gold dots and elastic band and it already came with a dashboard, dividers, plastic pouches, and a transparent plastic ruler, all for just $24.00 plus SH, a total of $32. Not bad for newbie user like me, right? And it’s about time that I show how I use it. I bought a couple of paper packs that I can use in it from a seller in Hongkong through eBay for $2.49/style with 40 leaves per pack and I love how cute their designs are. I wanted my pages to be minimal yet …

Traveler’s Notebook Page Entries for April

I have used my Midori Traveler’s Notebook for years now but I haven’t blogged thoroughly about it and why I love the system so much. For those new to this journal/planner system, this used to be called Midori TN and just recently they are solely called Travelers Company. It is a quality leather planner that has that awesome vintage look. There are two sizes, the regular (220mm x 110mm) and the passport size (165mm x 120mm) and can be filled with inserts that you can interchange as the weeks/months or years pass by. When I first bought this, there was one drawback, you can only use the inserts that was made by this company which is in Japan but since this system has become popular among the journal/planner community, many other companies started to make great versions of the inserts and the leather covers as well which make for a wider options and choice. Of course, there will be slight differences on the leather and paper quality. I have so far acquired three leather covers, …

Art Planner-Journal 2016

Hello everyone! I am back, well, almost. I am still trying to process everything that I’ve learned from the art retreat and also slowly getting a hold of my normal life. But let me start my first 2016 post here with a few photos of my 2016 art planner-journal and on how I organized it. I decided to use two planners this year. One for my art projects and the other for work/biz related plans and ideas, but for today I will be sharing the art planner where I will also be documenting bits of my 2016. Here, I used a 2 inch kraft binder by Simply Stories and I like how thick it is and it came with pages and clear pockets. I also picked up their 52 weekly pages pack and another pack of their yearly cover and overview pages which also came with thick kraft chipboards and decided I use them as quarterly divider. I love how spacious and pretty the pages are. And everything was on sale from Michaels when the year …
